JOE (MALE)

A massive bull with a gentle character. He has a caring disposition, and his docile temperament has earned much respect and affection from all.

Joe was always the “lover” of the herd – he would rather run away and “fight” another day.

Joe is living testament to the success of the Camp Jabulani method of elephant care. Late in 2010, Joe joined a wild herd on Kapama Reserve, and now lives with them in the wild. He occasionally returns to the Camp Jabulani stable to visit his original herd (and enjoy some of the delicious treats), but it is always his back we see as he ambles slowly back towards his new family in the reserve.
